Faculty and Trainee Enrichment
The Department of Medicine is committed to faculty and trainee enrichment. We are focused on promoting culture change and community building, enhancing recruitment and retention, and advancing the careers of residents, fellows, and faculty.
Mission
The BWH Department of Medicine is committed to being a national leader advancing enrichment for faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, and staff in the context of compassionate cutting-edge patient care, groundbreaking research, and outstanding medical education, while effectively partnering with our surrounding communities. We recognize and seek to mitigate health inequities that pervade our society as a result of longstanding racism, sexism, and other systems of oppression. We do this work through innovative research, health equity-focused clinical innovations, and equity-informed medical education.

Goals
- Promote a culture of inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing for all by developing a supportive, welcoming, and affirming community within the DOM and across BWH, with visible programming that fosters inclusive engagement and integrates diverse perspectives across academic and clinical missions.
Enhance the number and proportion of under-resourced faculty, residents, and fellows through intentional recruitment efforts, collaboration with MGB institutional partners.
Successfully retain our trainees and faculty by providing tailored mentorship and sponsorship opportunities that foster meaningful participation, a strong sense of belonging, and professional growth across training and career stages.
Advance the careers of faculty by strengthening pathways to leadership, supporting promotion to mid-level and senior ranks, and embedding principles of enrichment and engagement in processes such as faculty advancement and grant review.
